Our client, WellOne Medical Centre, is looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist who can maintain a steady head in a dynamic workplace.

 

This full-time position requires a detail-oriented worker whose work will include handling telephone and in person patient contact, email communication, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up.

 

WellOne Medical Centre is a large medical facility situated in the heart of downtown Toronto.  Our team of 13 physicians supported by an onsite lab and pharmacy provides responsive and timely service to our patient base.

 

The clinic operates from 8am to 8pm with 4 physicians per shift. The current position includes both 8 am-4 pm and 12 pm-8 pm shifts.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Receives all incoming patients to reception

  • Greeting patients, answering phone calls, responding to emails
  • Verifies and updates MOH (Ministry of Health) and patient information

 

Handles and triages all incoming calls and faxes to appropriate personnel

  • Books Appointments and manages MD's schedules
  • Answering questions and providing information directly to patients based on knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Following up on specialist referrals
  • Calling patients to inform of specialist appointments
  • Scanning and transferring documents and e-faxes in the EMR system (Accuro)
  • Sorting and forwarding mail and other correspondence
  • Invoicing lawyers and insurance companies and timely sending requested records
  • Other tasks as required

 

Handles all outgoing patient tasks

  • Makes follow-up appointments
  • Addresses any outgoing patient inquiries
  • Handles all non-insured billings/receipts and discharges all patients at reception desk

 

Experience

 

Diploma:  Medical Receptionist, Medical Administration or related diploma preferred

 

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a family practice or walk-in medical office serving multiple physicians

 

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Be assertive
  • Deal with a fast-paced work environment where accuracy is fundamental
  • Juggle multiple priorities and maintain flow
  • Take initiative when observe the need to resolve issues

 

Experience effectively using all functions of an Electronic Medical Records System(EMR):

  • Accuro is preferred

 

Strong typing skills accurate in a high volume of inquiries and data entry

 

Strong Computer skills:

  • MS Office
  • Internet

 

Has worked an alternating shift cycle (8am to 4pm and Noon to 8pm)
